OGX Beauty Brand Redesign
The team at OGX Beauty needs to redesign their packaging to attract a higher value audience so that they can generate higher sales while still maintaining the company logo, but redesigning the aesthetic.
Within the packaging, there are some typography mistakes and it would be beneficial for them to rethink the color scheme. Each of their products has a different color for different ingredients and although this separates the different types of shampoo and conditioner, the design is not consistent.
My role in the redesign for OGX Beauty was to redesign their shampoo and conditioner products. I had the opportunity to rethink their typography and font as well as color and shape of their bottle. Through the process I was able to do lots of research and find out which audience would benefit the company and how to achieve that specific goal.
Design Process
Research
For the research process, I made sure I understood the audience for the product as well the audience for other higher value products and what their products looked like. I researched other shampoo products and took notes on similar concepts I noticed. I also sketched out type placements and design ideas.
Testing Out Color Scheme & Typefaces
Fonts that looked best on a shampoo bottle and fonts that were easy to read were tested as well as type sizing. For the color scheme, colors that were more professional looking and that matched a specific aesthetic were tested.
Compositions
3 different compositions were created with different colors and bottle shapes. Each had a different design and did not look similar, but all matched the aesthetic. After getting feedback on my designs, we chose the best one and I continued to improve it.
